Jennie Garth Shares Important Message After Her “Foster Fail”

Jennie Garth foster fail

Actress Jennie Garth is already the proud parent of four rescue dogs, so what’s one more? She initially took Fauci the Chihuahua in as a foster dog. However, he quickly bonded with her other dogs and her human daughters. Before she knew it, Fauci became a “foster fail.”

So, Fauci is now a permanent resident, and the little pup couldn’t be happier. In fact, Garth used this experience to speak out to the world and share the importance of dog adoption. After all, not every dog is as lucky as sweet little Fauci.

A Pandemic Pup

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress chose to foster a dog during the pandemic. As an avid dog lover, she knew how difficult things must be for the shelters and rescues.

“When the pandemic started, there were a lot of dogs that needed foster homes and I thought we were just going to be fostering him, but we all just fell in love with him,” said Garth. “He just fits right in and he plays so well with the other dogs that we just decided to keep him.”

Garth and her family spent a while trying to come up with the perfect name for the Chihuahua. They tried a few names, including Ready Eddy and Taco, but nothing seemed to fit him perfectly.

Eventually, Garth joked that the pup looked like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Surprisingly, the silly name stuck. So, the newly adopted pup now goes by Fauci or Dr. Fauci. He gets to live a life of luxury with Garth’s other dogs: Pinky, Sandy, Pearl, and Buddy.

Remember Me Thursday

Garth has been a passionate animal lover her whole life. She grew up on a farm surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, and pigs. So, she was overjoyed when given the chance to speak about rescue animals.

“I’m just the person that’s always had a little dog on their lap,” she said. “I don’t really go many places without my dogs. We plan our vacations and trips around the dogs. Our lives basically revolve around the dogs.”

In fact, Garth is now the 2020 spokesperson for Remember Me Thursday. It’s a global campaign that brings attention to homeless animals in need of a family, and it honors the animals that weren’t saved in time. It’s hosted by Helen Woodward Animal Center, and it will take place on September 24th.

Garth narrates a special PSA for Remember Me Thursday in hopes to encourage more people to adopt. After all, she knows how incredible it is to rescue a dog. Her five pups are so lucky to have a loving mom like her.
